述曰：謂大乘中唯有現法。觀此現法，有能引生當果之用。當果雖無，而現在法上有引彼用。用者功能，行者尋見現法之上有此功用，觀此法果，遂心變作未來之相，此似未來實是現在，即假說此所變，未來名為當果。對此假當有之果，而說現在法為因。此未來果，即觀現法功能而假變也。

The Commentary states: This means that in the Mahāyāna there are only present dharmas. Observing these present dharmas, they possess the function capable of inducing and producing future effects. Although future effects do not exist, there is on the present dharma the function of inducing them. "Function" means capacity. A practitioner traces and perceives that on the present dharma there is this capacity; observing the effect of this dharma, the mind accordingly transforms into the appearance of the future. This resembles the future, but is in reality the present; one then conventionally speaks of this transformed future, designating it as the "future effect". In contrast to this conventionally designated future effect, one speaks of the present dharma as a cause. This future effect is conventionally transformed precisely by observing the capacity of the present dharma.
