述曰：以生違滅，滅即非無；以滅違生，生應非有，生既不成無，滅體如何有？滅若現在非無，生應現在非有。

The Commentary states: Since arising is contrary to cessation, cessation would then not be non-existent; since cessation is contrary to arising, arising should not be existent. Since arising does not become non-existent, how could the entity of cessation be existent? If cessation were present and not non-existent, arising should be present and not existent.
