述曰：第三此答初問也。捨通三乘，〈決擇分〉中第一卷說四句分別，謂有成就轉識，非阿賴耶識，謂三乘無學、不退菩薩不入無心位。有成就阿賴耶，非轉識，謂七地以前、二乘有學、一切異生入無心位。有俱成就，謂此第二句不入無心位。有俱不成，謂第一句入無心位。然今但引初句三人。

The Commentary states: Third, this answers the first question. Abandonment applies to the three vehicles. In the first fascicle of the Viniścayasaṃgrahaṇī, it explains the four alternatives: namely, there are those who possess the evolving consciousnesses (pravṛtti-vijñāna) but not the ālayavijñāna, referring to the non-learners of the three vehicles and non-retrogressing bodhisattvas when not entering the mindless state. There are those who possess the ālayavijñāna but not the evolving consciousnesses, referring to those before the eighth bhūmi, the learners of the two vehicles, and all ordinary persons when entering the mindless state. There are those who possess both, referring to those of the second alternative when not entering the mindless state. There are those who possess neither, referring to those of the first alternative when entering the mindless state. Here, however, it merely cites the three persons of the first alternative.
