述曰：此即護法菩薩亦假為二義，於理無違，即同前師也。下文有二，初述不退菩薩體；後顯名捨。此義意言，三乘無學，直往菩薩八地已去，亦捨此識名不退者，行亦不退，於未得法亦復不退，四理證知。一者，一切煩惱永不行故，八地以去無漏相續，無現執藏，故可說捨。

The Commentary states: Here, Bodhisattva Dharmapāla also provisionally formulates two meanings, which logically do not conflict, agreeing with the previous master. The text below has two parts: first, it states the essence of the non-retrogressing bodhisattva; second, it clarifies the designation of abandonment. The import of this meaning is that the non-learners of the three vehicles, as well as the directly proceeding bodhisattvas from the eighth stage onward, also abandon this consciousness and are called non-retrogressing; their practice does not retrogress, and with respect to phenomena not yet attained, they likewise do not retrogress. This is proven by four logical grounds. First, all defilements perpetually cease to occur: from the eighth stage onward, uncontaminated [states] are continuous and active grasping as a storehouse does not occur; thus abandonment can be affirmed.
