The Commentary states: This master's meaning is that active grasping as a storehouse is absent; the Yogācārabhūmi says that this is named abandonment, because ālaya has the meaning of "storehouse." This text also says that they are named arhats, because they possess all three meanings, as should be understood from before. Question: If not grasping actively is immediately named abandonment, then prior to the seventh stage there is also non-grasping when entering uncontaminated minds and so forth; should all these be named abandonment? Answer: This is not so, because it is not ultimate. Only when they definitively do not occur is it named abandonment. Question: If so, practitioners with training of the two vehicles in the vajropamasamādhi should be said to abandon this consciousness. Answer: In reality they should indeed be called abandoning, but because the duration is brief, the Yogācārabhūmi and so forth omit it and do not discuss it; this also does not conflict with reason. For the first master, "abandonment" means abandonment by severing seeds; in this second explanation, whether severed or suppressed, if they definitively do not occur, it is spoken of as abandonment; therefore, before the seventh stage one cannot obtain the designation of abandonment.
