述曰：無第八體，即阿羅漢無識持種，於金剛心正斷此時，即便應入無餘涅槃，以有漏果盡，無識持種故。勿阿羅漢得有此事，故不得捨第八識體。此中說捨，唯約執藏，以過重故，不約能、所藏以為捨也。

The Commentary states: If the substance of the eighth were non-existent, then the arhat would have no consciousness to hold seeds; at the very moment of the vajropama-samādhi when this is being cut off, he ought immediately to enter nirvāṇa without remainder, because sāsrava results would be exhausted and there would be no consciousness to hold seeds. Lest such a thing could occur to an arhat, the substance of the eighth consciousness cannot be relinquished. Here, 'relinquishing' is spoken of only in reference to grasping and storing, because its fault is grave; it is not spoken of as relinquishing in reference to what stores or what is stored.
