The Commentary states: 'The knowable' refers to the three natures (trisvabhāva); because it serves as the support for them, it is called 'the basis of the knowable' (jñeyāśraya), which is precisely the chapter 'The Basis of the Knowable' in the first fascicle of the Mahāyānasaṃgraha. This 'basis of the knowable' is an alternate name for the ālayavijñāna. Thus the Madhyāntavibhāga says: 'False discrimination exists; duality does not exist in it; in this there is only emptiness.' Therefore, the dharmas of the three natures all exist relying on this consciousness.
