述曰：「大乘經」者，如《顯揚》第一所引經云：無明覆愛結繫，愚夫感得有識之身等，又如五種子，乃至名有取識等皆是所等。上來總引大乘經為證訖，下外人以經為不定，不許為至教故。自下初、以比量成大乘是佛語；第二、引《莊嚴論》成立是佛語。

The Commentary states: 'Mahāyāna sūtras' refers to passages such as that cited in the first fascicle of the Prakaraṇāryavācā: 'Shrouded by ignorance and bound by craving, fools obtain a body endowed with consciousness,' and so forth; as well as the 'five seeds' and down to being called 'the consciousness with appropriation' (ādānavijñāna), all of which are covered by 'and so on'. Above, Mahāyāna sūtras have been cited in general as proof. Below, opponents consider the sūtras to be indeterminate and do not accept them as authoritative scripture (āptāgama). From here on, first, inference (anumāna) is used to establish that Mahāyāna is the Buddha's word; second, the Mahāyānasūtrālaṃkāra is cited to establish that it is the Buddha's word.
