述曰：下引共教。初總；次別。此即總也。即引聲聞乘經以密，意說此識，如《攝論》第二。下別之中有四部別，文即為四。

The Commentary states: Below, shared scriptures are cited. First, generally; next, specifically. This is the general statement. That is, it cites Śrāvakayāna sūtras as having spoken of this consciousness with implicit intent, as in the second chapter of the *Mahāyānasaṃgraha*. Within the specific section below, there are distinctions among four schools, and the text accordingly comprises four parts.
