4.152

The Commentary states: The Vibhajyavādins were formerly called the Vibhajyavāda school, and are now called the Prajñaptivāda school. They speak of the constituent consciousness (*bhavaṅgavijñāna*), whose essence is constantly uninterrupted, pervades the three realms, and serves as the cause for the three realms of existence; because the remaining six consciousnesses are interrupted at times and do not pervade, they are not the *bhavaṅga*. Vasubandhu's *Mahāyānasaṃgraha* lacks this text; only Asvabhāva's commentary contains the wheel of nine mind-[moments], which is this ālayavijñāna. The nine mind-[moments] are: 1. constituent (*bhavaṅga*); 2. adverting (*āvajjana*); 3. seeing (*dassana*); 4. investigation (*samtīraṇa*); 5. determination (*voṭṭhabbana*); 6. setup (*javana*); 7. retention (*tadālambana*); 8. registration (*ārammaṇa* / reflection); 9. constituent mind (*bhavaṅgacitta*). The rest is as explained in the *Cheng weishi lun shuyao*.
