述曰：若無第八，誰變身器？復依何法恒立有情？有情之體以有心是，無心非故。
The Commentary states: If the eighth [consciousness] did not exist, what would transform into the body and the receptacle [world]? And based on what dharma could a sentient being be constantly established? The substance of a sentient being consists in possessing a mind; being without a mind, it would not be one.
