述曰：設除此五位，隨所依根、所緣境界、三性異、三界別、九地殊、漏無漏等，有轉易故。此解有轉，於持身命，非遍三界，亦非是恒互持諸根。六種轉識，一、非恒有；二、轉易故。

The Commentary states: Even setting aside these five states, they transform and alter in accordance with the supporting faculties, the objective domains, differences in the three natures, distinctions among the three realms, variations among the nine stages, sāsrava and anāsrava, and so forth. This explains 'transforming and altering'; regarding the maintenance of body and life, they are neither pervasive throughout the three realms nor constantly maintaining the faculties mutually. The six transforming consciousnesses are: first, not constantly present; second, subject to transformation and alteration.
