4.516

The Commentary states: The second objection. Lifespan and warmth, as well as the faculties, should also be like consciousness. Why? It is said that in that attainment they do not depart from lifespan, and in reality lifespan is not absent in the attainment; it is also said that in the attainment they do not depart from consciousness, so in reality consciousness exists in the attainment; the objection regarding warmth and the faculties is also like this. The inference is: Consciousness in the attainment of cessation in reality should not depart [from the body]; because the Tathāgata spoke of it as existing in the attainment of cessation; like warmth, lifespan, and so on. Your lifespan, warmth, and so on would be absent in the state of the attainment of cessation; because the Buddha spoke of them as existing; like the consciousness accepted by you.
