上來已破經部本計，下破經部末宗轉計。上座部師亦許定中有細意識，生死等位已遮破訖，極成意識不如，是故下。破有二：初總破有心；二別徵有心所。

Above, the original tenet of the Sautrāntikas has been refuted; below, the shifted tenet of the later Sautrāntikas is refuted. The Sthavira school also accepts that there is a subtle mental consciousness (mano-vijñāna) in the attainment; this has already been refuted in the states of birth and death, etc. The well-established mental consciousness is not like this, so it is refuted below. The refutation has two [parts]: first, generally refuting that there is mind; second, specifically interrogating whether there are mental factors.
