4.55

述曰：下料簡有三義，此初也。謂此但說能證得道，執無漏種非執涅槃，涅槃不親依此識故。疎則可依，今說親故。此第一師。

[The Commentary states:] Below, the definitive analysis has three views; this is the first. It means this speaks only of the path that can attain it, upholding untainted seeds and not upholding nirvāṇa, because nirvāṇa does not directly rely on this consciousness. In an indirect sense it may rely on it, but here it speaks of the direct sense. This is the first master.
