述曰：以心有時此所無故，如貪等者。此受、想等應非大地法，彼若救言：雖名大地據餘位得名，非約滅定。

The Commentary states: Because there are times when consciousness exists while these [two factors] are absent, as with greed and the like, these [factors]—feeling, conception, and so on—should not be universal factors (mahābhūmika-dharma). If he defends his position by saying, "Although they are called 'universal,' this designation is established on the basis of other states, not with reference to the cessation attainment (nirodhasamāpatti)";
