述曰：下有二文：一、以八段依釋十門，合釋體義及行相故，合釋染所、餘心所故，以義類同故合明也。或開為九，四染煩惱與餘心所別門說故；二、以二教、六理證有此識，隨文可知。初段有二：一、釋頌；二、問答。異熟識先，此識為後，故言次後，解頌初句「次」。「第二能變」應辨思量能變識相，即出頌中能變之言。釋能變名，如第二卷解。

The Commentary states: The text below has two parts: 1. Using eight sections to explain the ten topics according to the text, because it combines the explanation of entity, meaning, and mental mode of activity, and combines the defiled mental factors with the remaining mental factors, since their conceptual categories are the same, they are clarified together. Alternatively, it can be opened into nine, because the four defilements and the other mental factors are stated in distinct topics; 2. Using two scriptural proofs and six reasoned proofs to establish the existence of this consciousness, as will be understood from the text. The first section has two parts: 1. Explaining the verse; 2. Questions and answers. The vipāka consciousness is first, and this consciousness is after it, hence it says 'next after,' explaining the 'next' in the first line of the verse. 'The second transformer' should discern the marks of the transformative consciousness of thinking (manana), which brings out the word 'transformer' in the verse. The explanation of the name 'transformer' is as explained in the second fascicle.
