述曰：自下即別解。初解彼字；次解依字。後解轉字，此解彼字。顯此依彼第八識也，由有阿賴耶故得有末那，故名聖說。次解依字，有其二說。

The Commentary states: Below is the individual explanation. First, explaining the word "that"; next, explaining the word "based"; finally, explaining the word "operating." This explains the word "that." It shows that this relies on that eighth consciousness: because there is the *ālaya*, *manas* can exist; therefore it is named in the holy teachings. Next, explaining the word "based," there are two explanations.
