述曰：此說有四：一、破前；二、立理；三、會違；四、結正，此即初也。護法等釋，彼《集論》中據不能生後種說故。謂此時緣闕，現在種子，不能更引生後念種；非謂此念現行無種，種在過去名為無種。《對法》無解，此略解教，《瑜伽》准知。

The Commentary states: This explanation has four parts: first, refuting the preceding; second, establishing the principle; third, reconciling contradictions; fourth, concluding with the correct view. This is the first. Dharmapāla and others explain that the Abhidharmasamuccaya speaks with reference to the inability to produce subsequent seeds. That is, at this time, conditions being lacking, the present seeds cannot further induce and produce the seeds of the subsequent moment; it does not mean that this moment's manifest activity lacks seeds and that seeds being in the past is called 'without seed'. The Abhidharmasamuccaya-bhāṣya gives no explanation; this briefly explains the scripture, and the Yogācārabhūmi should be understood by analogy.
