述曰：七、八二識無此俱依，恒相續自力起，不假俱有根。故諸論說言：由有阿賴耶，故有末那者，此由根本，非為俱有依。

[The Commentary states:] The two consciousnesses, the seventh and eighth, do not possess this co-existent basis; they arise continuously through their own power, without relying on a co-existent faculty. Therefore, when various treatises say: 'Because there is the ālaya, there is the manas', this is due to the fundamental basis, not a co-existent basis.
