述曰：不應說為增上緣者，以識種子望於現識是因緣性。種子既即根，根望於識即非增上緣故，如《瑜伽》第三、第五十四、《對法》第五等說。

[The Commentary states:] Regarding why they should not be called adhipati-pratyaya: because the seeds of consciousness, in relation to the actualized consciousness, are of the nature of cause-and-condition (hetu-pratyaya). Since the seeds are just the faculties, the faculties in relation to consciousness would not be adhipati-pratyaya, which contradicts statements in the Yogācārabhūmi Fascicles Three and Fifty-Four, and the Abhidharmasamuccaya Fascicle Five, and so forth.
