The Commentary states: This is because the eye, ear, and body faculties are [claimed to be] identical to the seeds of the three consciousnesses. The three consciousnesses pervade two stages, while the three faculties pervade five stages; framing the objection by correlating them is also just as in the previous two. Fascicle 56 says: text such as 'how many are solely the desire realm, how many are bound to the desire and form realms,' and so forth. Furthermore, the text immediately following in Fascicle 56 contains the objection concerning arising eye-consciousness without vitarka and vicāra in higher stages, and so forth.
