述曰：七以五根為同法故，應同五識體即業種。第六意業即末那失，第七眼等無現失；第八業是色、聲、思。眼等應非色根失，體是色、聲、意所攝故。

The Commentary states: Seventh, because the five faculties are analogous dharmas, they should, like the five consciousnesses, be identical in substance to karmic seeds. The fault that the sixth mental karma would be manas; seventh, the fault that the eye and so forth would lack actualities; eighth, karma is form, sound, and volition; the fault that the eye and so forth would not be physical faculties, because their substance is subsumed under form, sound, and mind.
