4.888

述曰：三、非七也。於中有二：初立理；後引證，此立理也。雖許不斷亦有俱依；有轉易故；如六轉識。不爾，應非轉識所攝；無俱依故；如第八識。

The Commentary states: Third, [the support of] the seventh is not [absent]. In this there are two: first is establishing the reasoning; later is citing proof. This establishes the reasoning. Although granted to be uninterrupted, it also has a co-arising support; because it has transformation and alteration; like the six evolving consciousnesses. If not, it should not be subsumed under the evolving consciousnesses; because it would lack a co-arising support; like the eighth consciousness.
