述曰：瑜伽八證中，五十一、《顯揚》、《對法》等皆同此。眼等六識各別依故，不能執受有色諸根。謂八證中第一執受五因中第四因，量如前卷已解說。以六識為各別依故，不能執受五種色根，明第八識遍依諸根故能執受。

[The Commentary states:] Among the eight proofs in the Yogācāra, chapter fifty-one, the Prakaraṇāryavācā, the Abhidharma-samuccaya, etc., are all identical to this. Because the six consciousnesses, eye and so on, have individual supports, they cannot appropriate the physical sense-faculties. This refers to the fourth reason among the five reasons for the first proof of appropriation among the eight proofs, the syllogism of which has already been explained in the previous fascicle. Because the six consciousnesses have individual supports, they cannot appropriate the five physical sense-faculties; this clarifies that the eighth consciousness pervasively relies on all faculties and therefore is able to appropriate them.
