4.988

述曰：第二段解心所也。心所之法隨識應說，始但有四乃至有一。復各加自相應之心，即相應依。初五識心所有五所依，乃至第八心所有二所依。此前三師皆隨自所立識所依說其多少，復各加自相應之依。

The Commentary states: The second section explains the mental factors. The dharmas of the mental factors should be explained in accordance with their consciousness, starting with only four down to having one. Furthermore, each adds the citta with which it is associated, which is the associated basis. The mental factors of the first five consciousnesses have five bases, down to the mental factors of the eighth consciousness having two bases. All the previous three masters explained their number according to their own established bases for consciousness, and each further added their own associated basis.
