述曰:彼論言總遍於六識,意乃別說六識自類各各相望,亦不違理,即總意言。若諸識生,意取決定識,不取一切。今總言,故諸識生等,如《攝論》第一云:一法未達,未遍知意。
[The Commentary states:] The words of that treatise are general and encompass all six consciousnesses, but its intended meaning speaks specifically of the six consciousnesses within their own respective categories in mutual relation; thus it does not violate reason either. That is to say, the statement is general, but the meaning is specific. When it says 'the various consciousnesses arise', the intended meaning refers to the determined consciousness, not to all of them. Here it speaks generally, thus 'the various consciousnesses arise', etc.; as stated in chapter one of the Mahāyānasaṃgraha: 'Not yet comprehending the one dharma, with the intention of having not fully known.'
