The Commentary states: Here, because the view of individuality is capable of decisive judgment, whereas the activity of doubt is wavering, it is therefore not associated. The Abhidharma[samuccaya] and other texts state: Doubt has no [decisive] object at all; because this love and view conform to and cling to the self, there is no hatred or aversion, which is hostility (dveṣa). Concomitant with this [consciousness] there are only four; because their active aspects are different, there must necessarily be only four. Among nescience and the others, as for delusion regarding facts or principles, it is solely delusion regarding principles. The differentiation between associated and non-associated will be explained below. Four kinds of craving constitute the truth of origin; which craving subsumes this? The distinctions of the seven conceits and so forth are as in the separate chapter notes.
