述曰：隨其所應，三乘學位滅定、出世道中暫伏滅者，即隨何乘所障便伏，二乘初果已去，大乘初地頓悟。二乘及菩薩，人空，唯伏人染，頓、漸二悟；菩薩法空亦伏法染。

The Commentary states: Correspondingly, when it is temporarily suppressed and extinguished in the cessation attainment and the supramundane path of the stage of learning of the three vehicles, it is suppressed in accordance with whatever is obstructed by that vehicle: from the first fruition onward for the two vehicles, and the first ground of sudden awakening for the Great Vehicle. For the two vehicles and bodhisattvas, the contemplation of the emptiness of persons suppresses only personal defilement, whether through sudden or gradual awakening; for the bodhisattva, the contemplation of the emptiness of phenomena also suppresses phenomenal defilement.
