述曰：如前數引，非自力生。彼第三又云：說眼識等隨意識轉，亦是唯以第六意識為無間依。第七、八識於此無力，不引此生，非此開導，故前五識各唯依六。

The Commentary states: As cited several times before, they do not arise through their own power. Fascicle three also states: 'It is said that the visual consciousness and the like turn in accordance with the mental consciousness,' which also means they take only the sixth mental consciousness as their immediately antecedent basis. The seventh and eighth consciousnesses have no power in this regard; they do not induce these to arise and do not open and guide them; therefore, the first five consciousnesses each rely solely on the sixth.
