述曰：於此釋中，初釋六名；次解性、相；後辨三性。初中有二：二句別故，能變有三；末那第二，此居後故，此即第三能變，次第二能變之後也。此謂解頌第一句也。

The Commentary states: In this commentary, it first explains the names of the six; next it explains their self-nature and cognitive mode; and lastly it distinguishes the three moral natures. In the first part there are two: because the two lines are distinct, there are three transformative consciousnesses; manas is the second, and this one stands last, so this is the third transformative consciousness, following after the second transformative consciousness. This explains the first line of the verse.
