5.751

述曰：前之五識唯了色等，境界狹故，不名法識；第六法識能了一切法，了境寬故，不名色等識。又第六識更為別解。

[The Commentary states:] The preceding five consciousnesses discern only form and the rest; because their object-domain is narrow, they are not named phenomenon-consciousness. The sixth phenomenon-consciousness can discern all phenomena; because its discerned object-domain is broad, it is not named form-consciousness and the rest. Furthermore, there is another explanation for the sixth consciousness:
