述曰：下顯不說，共依下說，且顯不共依。頌中不說：一色麁而且顯；二乃諸論皆有彼此極成，故本頌文更不別說。此即會本文無說根、境之頌，謂本頌中初能變識，唯明所緣，不明所依；第二能變俱明二種。此之六識明其所依，不明所緣，以麁而且顯。又復極成，頌文略而不說。

[The Commentary states:] Below is revealed why it is not stated; the common supports will be explained below, while the uncommon supports are provisionally revealed here. They are not stated in the verse because: first, material forms are coarse and manifest; second, across all treatises they are established by consensus among both [schools]; therefore, the root verse does not state them separately. This reconciles the verse text having no verse explaining faculties and objects: namely, in the root verse, the first transforming consciousness clarifies only the object of cognition, not the support; the second transforming consciousness clarifies both; these six consciousnesses clarify their supports, but not their objects of cognition, because they are coarse and manifest. Furthermore, being established by consensus, the verse text abbreviates and does not state them.
