述曰：下會經也。此言可解，謂有問言：且如眼識，亦依餘根，緣境通能了一切法。云何但說依眼了色，不言依六及七、八識了聲等耶？牒經問已，為答此問，故次論云：

[The Commentary states:] Below is the reconciliation with the sūtra. These words can be understood. Suppose someone asks: Taking for instance the eye-consciousness, it also relies on the other faculties, and in cognizing objects it can universally discern all phenomena; why is it only said that relying on the eye it discerns form, and not said that relying on the sixth, seventh, and eighth consciousnesses it discerns sound and the rest? Having cited the sūtra to raise the question, in order to answer this question the treatise next states:
