5.931

述曰：下護法等第二師說。文中有五：一、標宗；二、引證；三、立理；四、會違；五、總結。人、天逼迫輕，非尤重故，在意唯憂受，鬼、畜處通。若唯苦處，地獄相似，五十七說與地獄同，純受重故。若雜受處，容有喜、樂，況復無憂，雜受輕故。

The Commentary states: Below is the explanation of the second master, Dharmapāla and others. In the text there are five parts: first, stating the doctrine; second, citing proof; third, establishing the rationale; fourth, resolving contradictions; fifth, general conclusion. In humans and gods distress is light, not especially severe, so in the mind it is exclusively the sensation of sorrow; in the realms of pretas and animals it applies to both. If in places of pure pain, they resemble hell; Fascicle Fifty-Seven states that they are the same as hell, because they experience pure, severe [pain]. If in places of mixed sensations, there can be joy and pleasure, how much more so sorrow, because mixed sensations are light.
