The Commentary states: Third, establishing the rationale, which has four parts: first, setting forth the objection; second, cross-examination; third, further inquiry; fourth, general conclusion. This is the first. 'The remaining three' are definitely sorrow, joy, and so forth. Why is that? Because there are definitely the seventh and eighth consciousnesses continuing unbroken, they definitely possess the actualized sensation of equanimity, and furthermore it is not that they lack pain.
