述曰：此愚昧者於攝斂心加行位中有少聞思，或依師傳聞說斂心眉間之言，或獨尋經論見斂心之語，少有簡擇。然斂心時但住所緣，繫心眉間，不能簡擇。此定所緣之境，從前加行位，說名所觀境。

The Commentary states: This foolish person, at the preparatory stage of restraining the mind, has a slight degree of hearing and reflecting: either following a teacher's tradition, he hears the instruction to restrain the mind at the space between the eyebrows, or alone searching the sūtras and treatises, he sees the phrase about restraining the mind, having a slight degree of discernment. However, when restraining the mind, he merely abides on the object and binds his mind between the eyebrows, unable to discern. The object that is the condition for this concentration, based on the preceding preparatory stage, is called 'an object of contemplation.'
