述曰：其餘慚等體性，雖善令心等善，不以淨為相，但以修善、羞恥等為相。此信以淨為相，無濫慚等之失。非慚慚故，信是無慚；非信信故，慚是不信。今此淨者，信體之能。

The Commentary states: Although the intrinsic natures of the remaining factors such as shame are wholesome and make the mind and so forth wholesome, they do not have purification as their characteristic, but only have cultivating the wholesome, feeling shame, and so forth as their characteristics. This faith has purification as its characteristic, so there is no fault of conflating it with shame and the like. It is not that because shame has shame, faith is shamelessness; nor is it that because faith has faith, shame is lack of faith. Now, this purification is the capacity of the substance of faith.
