述曰：謂如取是青，非非青所緣，及處以來分齊隨多隨少，或大或小等。安立義者，施設等也。若無想不能取境此分齊相多少所緣，故想定有。

The Commentary states: It means, for example, grasping that this is blue and not non-blue as the cognitive object, and the boundary from its location as much or little, large or small, and so on. The meaning of "determine" is positing, formulating, and so forth. If there were no discrimination, one could not grasp these boundary characteristics of the sphere, whether much or little as a cognitive object; therefore discrimination definitely exists.
