6.326

The Commentary states: This also cites the verse to explain it: it means being light and at ease. Being free from heaviness is called 'pliant' (light); being harmonious and unobstructed is called 'serene' (at ease). This has two kinds: first, the uncontaminated, which eliminates contaminated heaviness, heaviness running through the three natures; second, the contaminated, which eliminates the heaviness of afflictions, being solely of the wholesome nature. This directly counters the single dharma of torpor; however, the Abhidharma-samuccaya says: 'eliminating all hindrances,' and the Prakaraṇāryavācā says: 'eliminating heaviness'; fascicle ten of the Abhidharma-samuccaya also states the same. Those are based on general obstacles, whereas this is based on a specific obstacle; because torpor is the nature of unfitness, while serenity is fitness, it solely eliminates that [torpor].
