述曰：《順正理》等外人問曰：豈不防惡修善，是此不逸相用？何用以四為體。此則一切別立有體，皆作是說「別有不逸」，不逸即是防、修，隱不逸之名，出防、修為難。論主次質。

The Commentary states: An opponent from the Nyāyānusāra and so forth asks: 'Are not guarding against evil and cultivating the good the marks and function of this heedfulness? What need is there to take the four as its substance?' This opponent, who separately establishes all things as having substantial existence, states in this manner: 'Heedfulness exists separately.' Heedfulness is just guarding and cultivating; suppressing the name of heedfulness, he brings forward guarding and cultivating to raise the objection. The treatise master next challenges him.
