The Commentary states: This is a part of non-ill-will, because only when one does not hate an object does one rejoice in it. Its nature is not desire; it is a factor conjoined with desire. However, the eighty-sixth fascicle [of the Yogācārabhūmi-śāstra], in explaining the various names of the three unwholesome roots, does not call ill-will rejoicing, while greed is also called rejoicing. Now, if one were to reverse those names, non-rejoicing would be a part of non-greed. Greed has the sense of attachment, so defiled greed is called rejoicing; non-greed has the sense of revulsion, while non-ill-will is called rejoicing. Each is stated according to one meaning, and they do not contradict each other.
