The Commentary states: The three explanations of non-doubt may be understood from the text. Yogācārabhūmi fascicle 8 says: "Doubt has as its essence discriminative divergent awareness; awareness is simply discernment (prajñā)." Fascicle 58 states: "Selecting and evaluating with hesitation; therefore, correct selection and evaluation is simply right view." Non-doubt being explained as a fraction of right view also has this rationale. However, eight secondary afflictions are directly inverted into wholesome states: namely, non-shame (ahrīkatā), non-embarrassment (anapatrāpya), non-faith (aśraddhā), indolence (kausīdya), torpor (styāna), restlessness (auddhatya), harm (vihiṃsā), and heedlessness (pramāda); the remaining twelve are not so inverted. The preceding explanation of the nine factors is concluded; they were explained in one section because they are subsumed under the minor afflictions. The three factors below all arise in common with defiled states of mind, and are therefore distinguished at the end.
