述曰：所謂「末底」是慧異名，與般若無別體。於慧上加「毘」字助之，毘是種種義，即種種慧也。《大論》言「異慧疑」，異者是種種義，故知疑體即慧。以末底、般若俱慧異名，以毘助之，豈別有體。此是大乘異師，非是別部。

The Commentary states: So-called 'mati' is an alternative name for prajñā; its nature is not distinct from prajñā. Adding the syllable 'vi' to prajñā aids it; 'vi' has the meaning of 'various', meaning 'various prajñā'. The Great Treatise says 'atypical prajñā is doubt'; 'atypical' means 'various', so one knows the nature of doubt is prajñā. Since mati and prajñā are both alternative names for discernment, when aided by 'vi', how could it have a separate entity? This is another master within the Mahāyāna, not a different school.
