6.598

述曰：下第三慢為首。與貪、瞋說已，與疑定不俱，三論皆說故，境定、不定故，不陵不定境。若疑彼勝負，必不敢慢。慢若起者，必自高故，境乃定也。

The Commentary states: Below is the third [section], with pride at the head. Having explained [its coexistence] with greed and hostility, it definitely does not coexist with doubt, because all three treatises state so, and because its object is determined while [the other's] is undetermined; it does not slight an undetermined object. If one doubts another's superiority or inferiority, one will certainly not dare to be proud. If pride arises, it necessarily exalts oneself; therefore, its object must be determined.
