[The Commentary states:] Anger, resentment, affliction, jealousy, and harmfulness are capable of co-occurring with the two factors of conceit and delusion, but not in conjunction with attachment and ill-will, because their operation is definitively contradictory to attachment. Ill-will is the intrinsic mark of anger and the like; from this it is proven and known that forgetfulness and non-discernment in the state of non-associated ignorance do not pervade this mind, being precisely a portion of delusion. This meaning should be pondered: it is not said that non-associated ignorance definitely co-occurs with them, but only that it co-occurs with the ten [afflictions]; that is, at the time of this ignorance, there may sometimes be a portion of discernment. However, that which is a portion of delusion definitely pervades all defiled mental aggregates, but this does not mean that the single factor of non-associated ignorance definitely co-occurs with faulty discernment. Within this aggregate of ignorance, other factors co-occur with this, and are nominally established upon ignorance.
