6.956

述曰：「憍唯癡俱，是貪分故」，不與瞋、貪並。「與慢解別」，不與慢俱，憍緣自高舉生，慢亦緣他下逸起，故不俱生。

[The Commentary states:] "Arrogance co-occurs solely with delusion, because it is a portion of attachment"; it does not accompany ill-will or attachment. "Its understanding differs from conceit"; it does not co-occur with conceit, because arrogance arises taking one's own self-inflation as an object, whereas conceit also arises taking another's inferiority as an object; hence they do not co-arise.
