[The Commentary states:] The two intermediate ones and the seven of anger and the like do not exist in the higher realms, so there is no need to distinguish them. The ten factors consisting of the great eight, deceit, and fraud of the higher also take lower stages as objects, because they co-arise in association with conceit and the like that take lower stages as objects as explained earlier among the fundamental [afflictions]; hence there are the great eight. When the Brahmā King took Aśvajit by the hand, that was deceit and fraud. This is according to the objective basis; if according to the cognitive image, they are all solely of their own stage, because they belong to one's own mind. Only arrogance does not take lower stages as objects, because dharmas of lower stages are inferior and are not what one relies upon.
