述曰：問雖但有現起分位。頌中義有所依俱轉，現起相顯，依俱隱故。自前第五卷已來，解第三能變，彼第二頌已後至此已前，明與六位心所俱訖，今明第七門六識共依、第八門六識俱轉、第九門起滅分位。有此二頌。此結前生後，寄問徵起。次舉頌正答，後釋本文。

[The Commentary states:] Although the question only mentions the states of actual manifestation, the meaning in the verse contains their supports and co-arising; the marks of actual manifestation are prominent, while their support and co-arising are implicit. From fascicle five earlier onward, the third transformation was explained; from after its second verse up to this point, association with the six categories of mental factors was concluded. Now, the seventh topic—the common supports of the six consciousnesses; the eighth topic—the co-arising of the six consciousnesses; and the ninth topic—the states of arising and cessation are explained. There are these two verses. This concludes the preceding and introduces the following, raising an inquiry to initiate it. Next, it presents the verses as the formal answer, and afterward explains the root text.
