述曰：如《解深密》等言：彼經唯有五識。此論亦已例同彼訖，唯有喻中彼更有一，謂如善淨鏡面，有一影生緣現前唯一影起，乃至多影應知亦然，故此言等等彼鏡喻。今此應言此法喻等，以法中無等故，此通說總致等言，前之七識皆似濤波，獨說五者，五俱定有第六，七恒生故。

The Commentary states: As for the words “as in the *Saṃdhinirmocana* and other texts”: that sūtra speaks only of the five consciousnesses. This treatise has also already applied the analogy to them in the same way. However, within the analogies, that sūtra has one more: that is, “Just as on a thoroughly clear and clean mirror surface, if the conditions for the arising of a single reflection are present, only a single reflection arises; up to many reflections, it should be known to be likewise.” Therefore, the word “and other” here includes that mirror analogy. Here, one should say “these dharmas and analogies, and others,” because among the dharmas there is no “and other”; this expresses it generally by adding the word “and other.” The preceding seven consciousnesses are all like waves; the reason only the five are mentioned is that the five necessarily co-occur with the sixth, and the seventh always arises.
